I've read some material here, and it sounds like there's just way too many steps to do something that, by now, should be able to have accomplished in one step. So that's what I'm looking for - I'd like to convert my out of print vhs movies onto dvd-r. I know that single layer dvd's hold 120 minutes, so what do I have to get to accomplish this in the easiest of way?? Mpeg 2 converters like Pinnacle Moviebox should be able to do this, no? Does the moviebox or other capture/decoder devices like that require other steps like Tmpge to be involved? Using PC, it's nice to have flexibility and control, but when simple things like direct 1:1 conversions become like navigating asteroid fields, what's a person to do?

Hello, check this out http://www.digit-life.com/articles2/leadtek-2000-expert/ . I bought this TV Tuner and it card convert video source directly into Mpeg1, Mpeg2, Mpeg4, AVI and your own customise video codec like Divx. etc. You can also record and burn VCD or DVD at the same time but make sure you have powerful PC, lots of SDRAM and HDD space....
