HD movies to play in media section

So I have a few MKV HD movie files that i am trying to backup to play as a mixed media disc in my 360 media section. I was wondering if anyone knows a way to do it? Maybe convert the MKV files to WMV then burn to data disc. If anyone could help out that would be great Thanks
