wifi vs. directconnection question

the kids got their first wifi game today. ( it's a dragon ball z game ). now i found there was a lot of lag time while playing. we are using the white usb wifi connector that plug into the PC. Would a wireless modem or a direct connection solve this problem? or am i going to have lag no matter what?? guess i should add that my connection is hi speed cable.

Since you have cable then it is probably the usb connector if you could get a wireless router then shouldn't have problems with lags.
