I have burnt off some home video camcorder files to DL DVDR and Nero said they burnt ok..
But when I insert the discs, XP sees them as a blank disc...
I can see the visable burn in the dye on the underside of the discs...
I have now deleted the files from the PC that I had burnt to these discs assuming all was ok..
Is there anyway I can get them back??
I still have the mini DV tapes to redo them all but its gonna be a pain playing them all back etc..
Am hoping I can avoid it???

Test that backup DL disc on some stand alone players and see if they'll play it. If your own pc doesn't recognize it,then your programs likely won't recognize it either.Try it on all your stand alone players,game consoles,other pc drives,friends,neighbors,buddies,etc. You just need a drive or 2 verify that they are playable.
At least you got visual evidence that the burn took place.
+R DL can be a trickier format for dvd drives to read. I've seen many times when a pc dvd-rom or Dvd-rw drive wouldn't recognize their own backups,but other drives would. It's the compatability factor of +/- R,RW,RDL,etc.
Since Dvd +R Dl is a trickier format,I booktype mine as dvd-rom to help give them a higher compatability rate for all dvd drives.
Please answer the folling questions:
1) What's the brand name and speed rate is your blank DL's?
2) What's the brand name and model # of your dvd-rw drive?
