Only just got my PSP on Christmas Day, so I'm wary about using all these homebrew things.

I've a few questions.
1. Is homebrew safe?
2. Why does everyone want to downgrade their PSPs? Surely an upgrade is better? (I'm aware I sound like a total n00b)
3. How do I download free games onto my memory stick so they play? (I tried downloading a couple- they said data corrupted so I figured I need homebrew or something?)

I've got update version 3.80 if that means anything.

Yes, you'll have to run cfw to run iso's or cso's of a game. Everyone wants to downgrade to the lower firmware to get to where its able to run cfw. Cfw runs the same as Official but with perks that ofw won't let you. So right now were at 3.71 M33-4 and next month 3.80cfw should be released.
