BIG problem with new PS2

Hello

I have big problems with my new PS2 (model version 79003).

When I turn on the PS2 and go to options I can't make changes to dvd player (turning progessive on /off).

The PS2 is working but the DVD player (3.11E) is all f..... up. Playning a movie and entering set up in the control panel I can't make any changes. My major problem is the aspect ratio of the DVD player setting. It is set to 16x9 and I can't change. Also the parantel codeing is set to level 1 and region USA - eventhough that it is a european PS2. I can't make any changes here as well.

How can I change the setting ???

I have owend a PS2 since it was launched but I have never seen anything like this.
