I have been using DVD Shrink for a few years now, it used to take a maybe an hour but now it will tell me it will take 3 hours or some astronomical number like 360 hours to burn, does anyone know what happened?

Maybe your drives are using PIO mode, they should be set to operate using DMA mode for faster operation.

How to enable DMA for IDE controller
http://www.onthegosoft.com/dma_setting_nt.htm
or
http://www.burstcopy.com/dma/xp/

In shrink's preferences, make sure it's not set to run in low priority mode.

Worst case, uninstall shrink and reinstall it, see if that does the trick.

uninstall your IDE controllers in device manager reboot and let windows reinstall them.

you say the Drives are in DMA mode? whats it say the current transfer mode is?

as said try a clean reinstall

and have you been doing a disc cleanup and defragging weekly?

This should of been tried if the guides were viewed and followed.

If DMA mode is selected and being used, the OS will use the max transfer mode the device is designed for by default, if there is a problem with the device, PIO mode will be chosen instead, not a lower DMA mode.

A good practice, but not likely the cause of the problem. You will see a slowdown of the system if the hard drive is getting low on space, if this is the case, try and remove files you don't need anymore to gain space back (a simple cleanup isn't enough), then perform a defrag (getting a larger hard drive would as be a good idea).

You've only looked at one suggestion, try the rest before you ask for more guesses.
