Hi peoples
I've seen on other sites that a handset hack may not be available for this model.
People have mentioned that the DVD needs to be converted from the inside via a special unit.
Not sure if our efforts are in vain.
A kingdom to the man that finds a hack for this player

I've also been trying to find a hack for the JVC XVN33SL. Only thing I found was to use a tool to convert it - not keen though (www.shoyle.f9.co.uk). Let me know if anybody has any success. Cheers

all i can find is this for the jvc tha5r hope this solves it as i have not tried it myself good luck
How to convert your JVC THA5R player into a multi-region compatible machine
To temporarily change the region on this player
1. Press and hold the Stop button on the DVD player until Initial is displayed on the on-screen display and the player LCD display
2. Release the Stop button on the DVD player
3. Press the Open/Close button on the DVD player to open the disc tray
4. Insert a DVD of your chosen region into the drive tray
5. Press the Open/Close button on the DVD player to close the disc tray
NB: You must complete steps 3-5 whilst Initial is still being displayed
6. Your player will now be set to the region of the DVD you inserted into the player, until you next power it off

unfortunatly the jvc xvb 33sl does not have a region hack but it is not all bad news a website offers the hire of a tool to hack it permamently for around £20 in the uk and about £30 outside and they reckon a child could do it. the site addy is below (hope i can post a site if not im sorry)
http://www.dvdcodes.net/dvd%20region%20codes/dvd%20region%20codes%20j/JVC%20DVD%20REGION%20CODES/jvc_xvn33.htm as for the th a35r you need a disc from the same site at a cost of £10 in uk £13 outside
i cant seem to get a hack for the xvn40b but the xvn55 is the same as the above
i have not tried any of these codes and you try them at your own risk hope this helps everyone any other problems and i will try my best to sort them or vist www.dvdcodes.net and try there links to moulder

Hi All
Great News for all JVC XVN 33SL (Silver)owners.
Just got my DVD made multi region for £20
I took moulder advice and contacted "DVD Codes.net"
They post out a lovely gadget and instructions that too 5 Mins to convert my region 2 player to a multi region DVD player.
They are nice guys too and delivered on their promise.
So all owners of a region 2 dvd player, don't send the entire player away to get it done for over £100 quid.
Just go to www.dvdcodes.net
and get in contact with them.
They are reputable, reliable and above all the cheapest and least hassle option.
i am a very satisfied customer and at last, got a multi region DVD player.
The site also has free handset codes.
Good luck and thanks Moulder, your a star
