(My first ever post btw, just joined a few minutes ago!)
I got an Xbox 360 Elite recently, and I decided to get connected to Live.
Now, I'll tell you this before I carry on. I plugged the ethernet cable that came with the Xbox into both the 360 and my laptop. My laptop recieves an internet conection wirelessly from a router that is situated downstairs in my house (I don't know if this is where my problem lies?). I can't surf the net when this cable is plugged in.
At first I had real trouble with getting the IP address test to confirm, and after following a guide and mucking about with a few settings, I got there, but then the DNS test failed. I was having a hell of a lot of trouble with that, and when I was recently trying a few things to get it to work, I knocked all the manual settings I had entered off, and now I'm back at square 1 with the IP address test failing, and I can't remember how I got it in the first place.
Could someone please help me, maybe write a little guide on what I need to do from the start to get connected to Xbox Live?
Please remember though I have connected the ethernet cable into my laptop which picks up a wireless internet signal from downstairs in my house. Thank you very much, some help would be so much appreciated.
live is down right now youll just have to tough it out until it is up again...xbox.com in there support has a messege about it you could try and call them but they just have a messege about it saying that they are working on it
