I have heard that XIII has a copy protection that causes the game to change if it notices you're playing a copy. It appears that a certain key-item simply disappears, and you can't play on without it! You get a message saying that 'you would have gotten the item if only you had bought the game' or something like that. Is this true? How is XIII protected? Safedisc, Securom? If you copy it, accounting for the protection at hand, does that fix the changing of the game as well?? I think this might be the first game that has this kind of protection...
Yeah, It's got something going on with. I made backups of all four disc, installed the game from the backups, but it would not play from those disc (error message said copy cd?). Tried using Alcohol 120 using images, same problem, same error. The game also wants to dial the internet every time I try to play. Feed up, I uninstalled the game and reinstalled using original disc ( yes, I own the original). It's o.k. now, still wants to dial the internet though. I tried using a backup cd to play the, which seemed to work for a while, however game play degraded over time, the mouse would stop working. The system seemed to drag down to a snails pace. Once again I uninstalled and reinstalled the game and works using the original disc. It does continue to try an dial the internet though. One other thing, I installed it on my laptop using the originals and only play with the originals and it works great. No errors, no dialing.
If someone can figure it out let me know. I would even settle for a game fix. Anything to keep from using the originals.
There's almost nothing I can't copy with the writers and software that I use. XIII just happens to be one.
