Hi all,
I new to this forum so apologies if my question has been answered - I can't find it if it has though!!

I have followed all of the advice in previous threads for burning wii games. I have downloaded and burned 4 games now and each time I try to play them the wii tries to update.

I get the message: "initialising a wii system update"
I have heard that if I update - the wii may corrupt so I have never updated.

Does anybody have any advice as to why this is happening??????
Have I burned the disks wrong??

obviously you didn't search hard enough because this question has been answered numerous times.

Look, it's very simple.

If they game that you are trying to play is from the same region that your system is in then you can update and it will be just fine. If it's not the same then you run the risk of bricking your wii.

In other words

wii (PAL) + update from PAL game = no problems
wii (NTSC) + update from PAL game = possible brickage
wii (PAL) + update from NTSC game = possible brickage
wii (NTSC) + update from NTSC game = no problems

Also follow these guidelines when updating over the wireless.

If you have PAL wii and update over wireless while in PAL region that you are okay and vice versa.

i was under the impression the wii would update over the internet correctly regardless of where it was in the world

i thought the wii console determined which update to download?

what do u think?

That may be the case. The point is don't update if the update is on the game disc and the disc is from a different region from the wii.
