Nero 5.5 problem

Hello. I have a problem with my Nero software. When I add some avi files to be burned the software just closes, no error messages or anything. This doesn't happen with every avi file, just some of them.
Does anyone have any ideas why this happens and what should I do? Thanks.

Could it be a harddrive failure type problem? Do the AVI files that give you that problem play properly? Specifically what version of Nero 5.5 are you using?

I don't think so. The harddrive is only 2 months old and there's been no problems with it. The files play just fine. The Nero version is 5.5.9.9 bundled.

Can't say Ive ever encountered anything remotely quite like that before... you might consdier updating to 5.5.10.42?

I would try it but the download won't start from the Nero homepage. Do you know where else can I find it?

i am having this exact same problem! and i upgraded my Nero, still the same thing happens! if there anything you can suggest? any programmes i might need to delete?

My update didn't work either. I will try out Nero 6 and let you know if it helps.
BTW does your Nero close in the 'add files' stage before any burning? Mine does.

Nero 6 didn't work either. It is weird that the problem exists only with certain files. I will try some other software when I have more time.

My friend just had a problem similar to this yesterday, for him the fix was to use ASPI 4.60 (1021) -- he tried 4.71 and 4.72 and it didnt do the trick for some reason. Perhaps you might consider checking that out :-)

Tried it, didn't work. But I did however figure out a way around this problem. In Nero 6 ultra edition there is a Nero Burning ROM program that works with these problem files. That's a bit weird because Nero Express didn't work in Nero 5 or 6 edition.
I'll let you know if there's any more problems. Thanks for your efforts.

Oh geez THATS why.
I guess I took it for granted.... whenever I (or most people i think) say "Nero" we mean "Nero BurningROM". THAT's Nero, Nero Express is a simple front-end for Nero BurningROM and because of its simplicity, it doesnt offer the same fuctionality.
All versions of Nero come with "Ner Burning ROM"

ive downloaded Nero 6, but when i open it it says demo version expired and just shuts down before i can enter the serial number, where did you get yours from??

um... I bought it?
When you get that msgbox, that simply means that you have entered a serial number that has been blacklisted as a pirate serial. You're gonna have to completely uninstall all traces of Nero from your systsem, clean out the registry and reinstall.

Ok i got Nero 6 working now, but when it comes to burning it to VCD, a pop up says runtime error or something and abnormal termination and it won't work. Any suggestions? thanks.
