Video codec update with out going online, possable?

I have WMV HD files for watching on my 360 and all is grand but I am converting my MKV collection to MP4 so that I can finaly have a movie file that works on my PS3 and 360, problem is that even though the 360 now supports loads of new movie files I cant play them without going online and getting a codec update first.

Is it possable, like I did with the main dashboard update, to download the codec, burn it to CD and install it that way to my 360 as its not online.

I do have a Xecuter Conectivity V2 kit coming and I know it has the HDD adaptor, can I use this to upload it even???

Theres no way around the codec downloading bit atm, you have to be connected to live in order to use it.
