What do you guys think is the best psp video converter?? I use PSP video 9 and psp movie creator, but I think there are better ones. What is the best one out there? Thanks.

I always use Magic Ipod PSP 3GB video Converter, it is literally 1 click process but the results are always good. I've not had a problem yet with it. It has NO video editing features and is just a converter though.

I use wondershare dvd ripper. It rips video to all portable formats. Lets you cut/edit and even snapshot of the video for custom thumbs. Also has stretch for forcing 4:3 or full screen.

Incorrect. I bought PSP Media Manager, and it doesn't convert divx/xvid movies, among other obscure extentions (.mkv).
Please! Matroska conversion to PSP was a main reason I bought PSP Media Manager to watch my Bleach eng subs!
May try pspvideo9 or even Magic PSP Ipod 3gp video converter...

Honestly, I can't understand why people like these programs so much.
PSP Video 9 won't even work properly for me (unhandled exceptions and debug queries plague just about every action I try to take). And even discounting that, it has horrible preset options that you can't even change. I don't want my videos having only the option of 768 kbps video and 128 kbps audio!
XviD4PSP would be nice, but it has *too many* options. I really did like the program until I tried converting one of my files and couldn't get any decent quality to the video. And with so many different options that have no accompanying help file to reference, I have no idea what to change to make things better. AVS version? Quantizer? Because of how long a video conversion takes, I can't very well test out a ton of different quality/quantizer values to see which ones work for what. If it wasn't for that, the program would be nice (I especially like the options for input/output resolution, aspect ratio, fps, etc). Good program, but needs some serious documentation.
Other programs... Most of them can't support .mkv, which makes them unusable in my book. The ones that can have such crappy options for customization that they're not worth the time.
Isn't there any program out there that supports a large variety of formats, allows the setting of audio/video bitrates manually (or at least explains equivalents when selecting VBR), manual setting of resolution (or at least an option to set black bars to correct aspect ratio using the standard resolutions), and doesn't suck at working without error messages? Basically, it'd need to be a program that combines the better aspects of XviD4PSP and PSP Video 9.

I usually don't place movies on my PSP because i would rather watch them on my Portable DVD Player :) but when i have/want to its always PSP VIDEO 9
PSP-3.80 m33-5
Ps2-Duo3 Modchip, 15 GB hDD (needs to be bigger)
PC-80 GB hDD, LG DVD RW+R-R Writer, and a few more bells and whistles.
..

Well, as I said, PSP Video 9 would be nice, but it won't even run properly on my computer. And really... The inability to lower the audio bitrate is the one that really bothers me. If they were gonna decide on one bitrate to use, 96 kbps or 64 kbps would've been much better choices, since a video doesn't need the same audio quality as a song (and 96 kbps AAC-LC is actually a pretty decent bitrate for many songs). And while the video bitrate should be adjustable, they at least have that at a pretty decent level.
Actually, I really like MediaCoder. It has presets specifically for the PSP, and it gives really good customization on the settings. I've always used MediaCoder for my audio conversion needs. The problem I notice is that when encoding to H.264, encoding speed is about 2/3 realtime, which is painfully slow. I don't know if it should be using a different encoder, or if some other component in use during conversion should be different, but the speed really bugs me about it. MediaCoder is usually not a program that runs so slow. I think other people should try it out though... besides the speed problem that I encountered, it's by far the best program out there for converting. It's easy to use and sets all options to a great balance, yet allows for full customization if desired. It's basically exactly what I've been looking for, and if I can figure out the speed problem, it'll finally be the only program I use for encoding/transcoding files.

whoa. so many to choose from....
isn't psp video express good? You can choose the exact file size and quality of the video and audio. And lets you choose h264 or the first mp4 video on psp. PSP video 9 is confusing now. It used to be a lot simpler. if anyone wants a simple converter, i think i like PSP Video Express the best.

Well, I can't remember what it was, but I had a very specific reason for turning away from PSP Video Express (it was, in fact, the first PSP video converter program I tried using, before seeing how popular PSP Video 9 is). I'd try it again to see what the problem was, but there's no need.
I found that MediaCoder is indeed the best program to use. The problems I was having with speed was only due to the specific .mkv file I was trying to transcode, in combination with the H.264 encoder. Every other file I tried transcoded at quite a good speed. I highly recommend that others try it. If you want, try the specific PSP version (although all the regular releases have the PSP feature accessable from the menu, so I'd probably recommend doing it that way).
