Yeah, I read the sticky tutorials. They are SO outdated by the way. You guys need to stop telling n00bs to read them. Anyway,

If I'm going make a back-up of my own game. I need the Samsung SH-D162C drive ? No other DVD DL burner will do ?

Now, If I download a copy of a game that I own. Will I be able to burn it, with my generic DVD DL burner ?

if you havent burned any games than how do you know the threads are out of date?

the samsung sh-d162 is not a burner, just a reader but you will need it to rip games unless you want to rip them from your 360.
the sh-d162 samsung drive is well worth the 50 bucks or so it will cost you, it makes it very easy.
you will need to download xbc 2.7.
chances are your dvd dl burner will work but i recomend updating the firmware to the latest version.
downloading games, even if you own a copy or not is piracy so i wont discuss it.

agree with fudpucker. the only thing i'd add (and it's probably obvious) is that your samsung 162c needs to be flashed with the kreon firmware in order to rip the 360 games.

I have a Hitachi drive, So it would be pointless for me to buy the Samsung drive ?

Or does it work on all drives ?
