Hi guys,
I was looking to get a WiiKey off www.ghost2fitter.co.uk
First of all, could you tell me whether this is a reliable site and whether I should send my Wii to this place to get chipped?
Secondly, I have a PAL Nintendo Wii and have heard rumours that if you play Super Mario Galaxy it on your Wii, it will 'brick' your Wii. Would this happen if I played a PAL version of SMG on my Wii?
Thirdly, are there any places other than torrent sites where I could get some PAL, English Wii Games? Not all torrent sites tell the truth and I could end up putting an NTSC game onto my Wii? I know there is some NTSC - PAL compatibility, but I do not want to take the chance of bricking my Wii when I get the WiiKey. And, could someone tell me what the latest and most reliable firmware for the WiiKey is?
Finally, I have also heard that when you put in a new game disc, such as SMG, Nintendo will update your Wii. Would I be right in saying that if I have the latest WiiKey firmware installed, it is perfectly fine to install the Nintendo update?

That site is reliable.
If you have a PAL system and you are going to play a PAL game then it will be fine.
Torrent sites are the way to go. Just read the comments and make sure it is PAL. Latest FW for Wiikey is 1.9g but it might cause some problems. Before that is 1.9b.
If you have the latest WII FW then it will be fine. But then again you shouldn't worry since you'll just be playing games of your own region.

Thanks a lot, you have answered my questions. Could you tell me the problems with version 1.9g? Wouldn't I need this firmware as it is the latest? For the downloading game issue, I have selected this -> removed to download Super Mario Galaxy, PAL version. Would you recommend this as a good PAL source for SMG?

linking to those types of sites doesn't really follow forum conduct, iirc--dunno, maybe its a gray area. reliability is tested by yourself and how fast you get a successful download that is what it says it is.

Hi,
I am a bit skeptical about sending my Wii in the post for obvious reasons.I don't know what ghost2fitter will do with my Wii and whether the will send it back or not. Has anyone purchased and sent their Wii to their site to get it chipped at all or any console?

I suppose I could just put postal insurance on the Wii, just incase it got lost or something. I defintiely don't want to solder on the WiiKey myself - it will go horribly wrong and ghost2fitter is my only realistic option.

Hi,
Thanks, I had already emailed this guy who was selling a modded wii and some games, to ask him where he got the wiikey installed and he said ghost2fitter. He said he had already chipped 3 Nintendo Wii's and an Xbox 360 and highly recommended the site. Thanks anyway.
I will be posting my Wii tomorrow and will hopefully get it back during midweek sometime :D:D:D I'm so excited.
Also, could you guys give me some links on where to download the 1.3 GCOS config disc and the filechop thing (?

if u use brickblocker on some games it will stop them working
SMG is one of these so stick with the pal version and find out if the wiikey has been updated to 1.9g or u will have to do yourself if u want to play SMG

Thanks for the heads up on SMG. I will keep my WiiKey up to date and make sure that I only play PAL games, just to make sure that my Wii doesn't get bricked.
