Disc from DVD Recorder shows up as blank on Computer

A friend recorded a show on a DVD using his recorder and I wanted to copy the disc. It plays fine in his recorder, but my drive recognizes it as a blank disc. Any ideas?

edit: Sorry, for some more details, the disc is a DVD-R, and the proggy I'm using is DVD Decrypter

I don't think I have any way of knowing, as the disc shows up as blank I can't look at it. I don't know much about his dvd recorder either.

It is possible the disc was not finalized in his recorder;similar problem, issue that caused it:

Mmm most likely it didn't finalize, maybe he made a Multi session disc.
Btw, your DVD drive's firmware maybe out of date, you should try updating it, perhaps it can't read the latest DVD+R revisions.

What kind of DVD drive have you got?
