I've download filechop.exe (from the config file for the Wiikey recovery) file.

I've run it in virustotal.com - and it's coming up with a few erros saying it could be dogy.
Normally if I get 1 or 2 errors: I make a judgement and decide whether to run it on my PC or not.

But this file is coming up with 6 errors.

I'm always ultra paranoid when it comes to running downloaded files off the net.

I've just downloaded the image file for the update - this is just over 2MB.
When unzipped: you get a file that is 1.4GB - the right size needed.

Why would one ever bother with getting the correct update and then filechopping anyway - when you can just down load the ISO as a 2MB zipped file?

Am I missing something?

Thanks.

Dude you are making waaaay too many topics. Just stick with one and ask your questions there.

Honestly if you are going to be paranoid about everything then stop what you are doing and forget about playing backups on the Wii. It will be safer for you.

All over the net there are differen versions of the Config, Update and Recover files.

Padded or not, Hacked or not, zipped, rared, etc...

The best and safest way is to download the original Wiikey files and filechop them yourself.

You also use filechop for GCOS and Gamecube disc images that are under 1.35GB

I hope this helps.

Where's the party?!?

thanks for the reply.
i did initially do a search for filechop.
i couldn't find anywhere to download it from.
(though i only clcked on the first 5 links from a google search.)

the only place where i found it in the end was in the config file.

me personally: i wouldn't run it.
i ran it in 2 different places where they do virus checks against loooads of virus checkers.

one came back with 6 flags saying it was malware.
and the other came back with 2 flags syaing it was well known malware.

(i did see other programs in the links from my google search for programs that pad a file - bu they weren't called filechop.)
