Cant play a burned divx dvd.

So I have a divx movie, and I want to burn it to a dvd. The DivX player says 3 steps:
1. Insert blank cd/dvd.
2. Drag the movie into the above space.
3. Click burn.

And I did this and it wont play in my dvd player. My dvd player just spits it out after a few seconds.

Now is my dvd player not supporting divx, or is that burn process to easy to be true or whats going on here. Id do somemore experimenting but I just used up my last spare dvd.

you need to check your dvd players specs to see if it can even play divx files.

using good blank media like Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim burning at or below 8x max is important also

They are "legacy" dvd-r but ive never had any problems with them before. I burned it at 8x.

The dvd player is new but cheap. I dont have the specs. Is divx compatability not standard? Do very few players support divx?

How can I change my divx video file to something supported by all dvd players?

Now that I dont have any dvds left, can you recommend me any? I really dont want spend that much. What are dvd+-r for? Do I only need dvd-r?

the DVD dash R are fine if your going to get them online go with Taiyo Yuden from

or if your buying at a B&M store get Verbatim

get the model number of your DVD player and goggle it to get the specs to see if it even plays divx files. some not all support divx files
