Firstly, thankyou if you have viewed my problem and is willing to help. OK, im a very novice PC user so I will do my best to tell you all you will want to know.
Basically I run windows XP SP2 on my comp and now and again it will load up as normal in reasonable time then, when it gets to the loading bar (blue line that goes across with XP logo and flag) the screen will all of a sudden go very pixelated and I mean in a bad way it will go wild. The whole screen goes jumbled with white lines and the logo just goes all messed up. The comp will stay in this loop for about 5 mins then reboot itself (fortunately) then the process will start again. Sometimes it will bring the manual boot up screen, you know, the one with the use arrow keys to start windows normally or revert to last known good config etc. So I will just let it count down and start normal. Or It cuts that bit out and on reboot just goes straight to the loading bar, only this time, hey presto!
It logs in succsessfully. I get the usual box that appears "windows has recovered from a serious error" etc etc.
Now, this does NOT happen on a regular basis. It will happen once in a while maybe once a week if im lucky. Im not massively concerned and am happy there is no virus or trojan at work as I have used Bullguard and scanned various times in safe mode and it doesn't pick anything up. This is however a little annoying as I just cannot seem to pinpoint what is causing this error. Is it a hardware failure or a piece of software? I don't know!
I use system restore now and again and it is still there. Device manager shows no conflicts and my system is up to date. I have no third party software installed and have not downloaded anything dodgy, so to speak.
Now, looking around I have noticed people putting in codes and the things that come up when they try to show other users exactly what their comp is reporting. Im afraid I can't show you anything which will probably have you scratching your head, sorry.
All's I ask is what exactly do I put up and where do I find the error reports that I can post that will help you pinpoint what is causing these crashes and BSOD's?? Thankyou all.
