Hi,
I'm trying to make a back-up copy of the BBC comedy "The Office." Unfortunately, when I compress the entire disc at the maximum level, 10, there still is a red space. I checked if I could eliminate extra languages, audio settings, etc., but there was nothing. Not even bonus features.

I guess I have to resort to splitting the episodes on two discs. I've never done this before, and need help.

I was thinking of switching to "Re-author mode" and backing up episodes 1-3, plus the menu, first. Then, after I burned that, I'd go back and back up episodes 4-6, plus the menu.

Does this sound correct?

If you re-author you will not get the menu or any extras anyway. You need to remove everything other than the main contents. I would advise upgrading to DVD Shrink latest - that version shows clearly the audio tracks and subtitles (sub picture) available on the disc. You should extract the main episodic files and then remove all audio tracks exept the one you want. Also remove all sub pictures if there are any. Hopefully that will bring it down to one disc. You will be able to jump to the next episode via you DVD player by simply pressing 'next' (assuming each episode is one chapter) so the menu is not essential. If that doesn't work then yes you will have to split the ripped files.
