I've probably went into 10 links where someone has had a PSP USB connection problem... But different from mine.
So, here's the story :
I plug my USB cable into my PSP, then PC. Then I selected (from the XMB) "USB Connection" and on my PC, it says "One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, bla bla bla..."
I've had this problem before, and by fixing it, I re-installed Windows XP onto my PC... And re-installing Windows XP onto my PC means it wipes out ALL of my memory... I don't want that happening so is there anyway to fix this?? I know there's lots of answers to this question, but my question is slightly different because when entering my USB connection on my XMB, it stays at "Please Wait..."...
So if you have any suggestions then please post here.

Go into device manager (right click my computer>properties>hardware tab>device manager). Click the + sign next to Universal Serial Bus Controllers - you should have a red or yellow exclamation point point next to one. Click on it and see what the error says & code given.
Also check for a driver update for the usb controller.
When you reisntall/reformat the pc - the memory stays in tack - it's the hard drive that gets wiped :)

All pics made into links instead :)
@kikzm33z
Click on the driver tab - there you'll see a button to update the driver. Click on that to install the driver for the usb card.

No don't think so. It's more a hardware problem then a cable problem.
Any other usb ports in the pc to try - looks like there are.
Uninstall the one that says unknown device. Right click on it then pick uninstall. Reboot the pc - windows should see it and reinstall the device w/ the driver.

No luck.. =(
I might try re-flashing, but this might get me to 3.71M33-2 and I might not be able to upgrade again because the USB might not work...
Anyone reckon that I should downgrade?

I don't think this has anything to do w/ the psp at all - could be wrong though. Did you try the keycleaner?
Can you hook another device up by usb and see if it works? I'm thinking it won't.
What changed pc wise since this starting happening - since this starting happening?
Two last questions :) - when the psp is not connected does device manager still show no driver installed.
Have you tried another usb plot for a different pci slot?
Oh and you have the windows update icon in the system tray - run that yet :)

Maybe a malfunctioned USB cable.
Try using another one
OR
Take the Memory Stick PRO DUO out and plug it into a Memory Stick PRO DUO Adapter and into your PC and always use it like that from now on.
OR
Something wrong with your PSP, reinstall CFW. Also try fixing the idstorage inside the PSP with some apps on the internet. Be-aware of fake ones though. If not then Pandora install your PSP with CFW again, as Pandora fixes a few things.

1)Didn't run the keycleaner - will try that if I could actually get it onto my PSP >.< So, that's no luck.
2)Hook another USB? You mean, other stuff that needs USB? Like the mouse? They work fine.
3)Hm... Nothing actually changed... I think...
4)Don't understand.
5)Yep, I've tried another USB plot.
6)I honestly don't want to do that... The reason I had to re-install Windows the last time was because of that update... I got in big trouble LOL... But I'm going to take a risk =/

I really don't want to use the JigKick... What if it doesn't work and I get stuck at 1.5/3.7M33-3?
EDIT: Updated my Windows, no luck...
I'm gonna try blowing the USB port lol. No luck =(
EDIT: ThisDude, I give up... I'm going to re-install custom firmware.
EDIT: Oh great... I downgraded t 1.50, no luck and guess what? My JigKick won't start up... I've just f***ed up my PSP... Damn!!
EDIT: I think I need to run a keycleaner... But the hell can I get it into my PSP?

Either your PSP is really messed up or you are doing something wrong. Before you continue have you ever done anything that can cause damage to your PSP internally?

So it must have been a flash problem. Don't forget the Jigkick helped as well.
