Start>Run>type, Dxdiag. Select, Sound Tab>Click, DirectSound button. Click prompts>As soon as you indicate NO, an error code will display. Click, Save all information button. A dxdiag.txt icon appears on the desktop. Copy and paste this dxdiag.txt here for review. Go back to the DirectX Diagnostic Tool window. Click, More Help tab. Click, "Sound" button. Answer each question, see if this troubleshooter helps. Let me know what you found.

You might want to take a look at Afterdawns rules. Posting private emails are forbidden. Did you ever use the DirectX Diagnostic Troubleshooter, as suggested? This would be a first step at figuring out why there is no sound coming from your speakers. Let me know what you found there. Chances are, if you use the troubleshooter you will find the problem. If you have questions, I can assist.
Posting the log is not necessary, if you find a problem in doing so...no big deal. If you'd like, you can just tell me want problems it found instead, if any?
I forgot to ask earlier. What were you doing when you first noticed the sound not working? Have you installed any software or hardware lately? Did you make any recent changes to the Operating System that could affect the sound? What make and model of monitor? The more you can tell me about what may of caused the problem, the better I can assist you in finding a possible fix.

Check in device manager.. onboard realtek AC97 sound chipset is usually on IRQ10.. which will often conflict with any added pci cards.

junior eh?? i was just throwing an observation that may have cured it in one go.. observed that one yesterday with a puzzling no sound issue with onboard realtek sound hardware..the driver was installed and running correctly, but the device was refusing to start.. Turned out to be an IRQ conflict..Have you looked in device manager (do you even know where it is??)
If you are so clever fix it your f...ing self!!.. damn windows retards

Well what can I say? You started it.. you never mentioned interrupts, or having checked them.. Just because no new hardware has been added does not mean that the bios may not have reset to default causing an IRQ conflict..
Is the device even enabled in the bios? If it is and everything says it's working fine then there is a very good chance the actual hardware, or the speakers/amplifiers have failed.

If plugging a different output chain (headphones even) into the line out on the panel and playing with the mixer controls doesn't get you anywhere I would suspect the sound chipset.

maybe yes definitly the sound chipset but like u said b4 i should check my bois and yes i did check that --all is good and i tried all outputs with speakers and headphones --mic works fine but still no sound i tried all options that were in realtek and windows i mean like every thing i know sounds totally stupid but like b4 this is the 1st problems i could not fix like ever --ps i even uninstalled and reinstalled the sound drivers for my HP and the real tek one that was suggested and nothing dunno why when i even system restore back to a earlier time when it did work and nothing --all settings are set to monitor speakers ??? u tell me lmao please

If it worked in the past, and even when restored to a time when it did then.. it must be the hardware. (to completely confirm this you could download http://linux.softpedia.com/get/System/Op...tion-1957.shtml and burn it. a r/w cd is great.. then boot from it.. I know the realtek ac97 driver works on it.. even with a windows IRQ conflict.. If you run from the terminal..(little black monitor icon) the command

lspci -v -v

it will list all your onboard hardware.. just to confirm this is indeed a sis or realtek ac97 chipset. You can browse around on your drive for media files.. but the disk will play music when the desktop loads.. which kind of clinches it.
I use killbill for 90% of my hardware troubleshooting/testing.

Try plugging the speakers into a walkman just to confirm the output end speakers etc are working..

It is just possible that something is muted somewhere, or another process has locked with access to the sound hardware enabled.. but that is most unlikely..

See if you can borrow an old soundcard from somewhere, if that works it kinda confirms the onboard hardware has failed (it does happen..soundcards have quite a high failure rate in my experience.. certainly higher than other components.. often followed by failure of the rest of the board quite quickly)
