I am guessing you want to rip a movie from a DVD9 (dual layer) and burn it to a DVD5 (single layer), right?

What settings are you applying in DVD shrink?

If you haven't already done so... These settings will give you the optimum quality for a main movie only rip...

1) Press "Re-author".
2) Open up your DVD, and double click on the title under main movie (it will analyze for about 30 seconds).
3) Click on the "Compression Settings" tab.
4) Keep only 1 audio track (pref 5.1 DTS or AC3, if not available keep the 2 channel). The reason I say only keep the 5.1 is that every DVD player is capable of downmixing 5.1 channel to 2 channel anyway.
5) Uncheck all subtitles except for forced subtitles.
6) Make sure that "automatic" is in the compression settings box. Look up the top, there should be a green bar. If it's all green and no red then you're all good to go.
7) Press "Backup".
8) Go to "DVD region" tab and select region free.
9) Go to "Quality Settings" tab and check both boxes. This will slow down the transcoding process but will give you higher quality. Also, it will not be available if your stripped main movie is less then a DVD5.
10) Go to "Options" tab, uncheck "Run backup in low priority mode", as we want processing power directed towards DVD Shrink.
11) Go to "Burn Settings" tab, rename Volume Label if you like. Here you can select burn speed too. I would suggest a slow speed. I use 4x but it's up to you.
12) Go back to the "Target Device" tab. There you can select output method and temporary files folder. Now you can let it rip!

This method should work flawlessly. If you still have problems, post me the details here...

Because of the copy protection used, that one has to be ripped with the AnyDVD ripper or DVDFab Decrypter prior to using Shrink; otherwise, you'll get the "too big for the disk" message even with AnyDVD running in the background.
