i keep getting a lot of pop ups....porn, fp.pc, etc...
I update my anti virus daily...I scan with hijackthis, ad-aware, spybot S&d and windows defender. They come up with nothing...I've even used windows live safety scanner and nothing, but yet i continue to get pop ups. I've checked my browser settings and pop up blocker is on; no exceptions. What else can I do???

Download SmitFraudFix. Next, Reboot into Safe Mode, Start SmitFraudFix, Search and clean the infections. http://www.afterdawn.com/software/deskto...mitfraudfix.cfm
Reboot

Download Combofix. Run this. Post log here. http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=134965

Run HijackThis. Post log here.

Going back to the first HJK log. I later noticed this entry.

The UW-oshkosh entry is okay...This is a university computer I have at home. I haven't had any pop ups as of yet but I will let you know if I do.

It appears those cleaners did the trick. Your log is clean!
Using Windows Defender by itself is not enough protection. Download and install this as well. http://free.grisoft.com/doc/download-free-anti-spyware/us/frt/0

Clean out System Restore for performance:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using...ps/mcgill1.mspx

Clean out your Browser. Start>Control Panel>Internet Option>Browsing History>Delete>Next Window, Delete All>A small window appears>place a tick (check mark) in the box>Click, yes.

Download and run this registry cleaner.
http://www.ccleaner.com/

Run Disc Cleanup and Disc Defragmenter.

If you want to make Firefox "Lighting" fast (THIS ONLY WORKS WITH HIGH SPEED INTERNET)
1. Type, About:Config, in the address window
2. Filter 'Network'
3. Double click Network.http.pipeling, and set it to TRUE
4. Double click pipeling. Maxrequests to set value from 4 to a higher value like 10

Let me know how everything worked out.

Take care...
