I'm looking to buy a PS3 sometime in the near future. With the different versions out there, I don't know which one to buy. All I plan on using the PS3 for is playing games, I'm not going to DL movies or PS1 games.

Is the memory also used as an internal memory card?

I would also like it to play PS2 games but I could keep my PS2 for that, so no big deal.

Any help would be appreciated.

yes the memory can be used as an internal save card, and if ur just playing games than it doesnt matter wich version , but if u wanna play alot of P2 games on it ur best of with the 60gig unit, its cheaper than the 80 gig and also has has the emotion chip to play games instead of runnin software to emulate them.

I think the 60gb version is out of production,so it will be very hard to get one of those models,go for the 80gb model,it has all the features of the 60gb one except PS2 games are run on Emulation. If your not bothered about playing PS2 games and your not bothered about not having a memory card reader,go for the 40gb one.

Also the hard drive in the PS3 is user upgradeable, so if the limited backwards compatibility, 2 extra USB ports, and memory card reader doesn't matter to you, then I would go with the 40 gb model and upgrade the hard drive later if needed. You can get a 160 gb drive cheaper than cost difference.
