After getting broadband i downloaded Kazaa K++ finally hoping to be able to download those movies and tv episodes i've always wanted. Kazaa seems to have other plans however, every time i download a large file in windows media player format it refuses to work. I get the sound but no picture. If played in realplayer the message DIV3 decompressor not found is displayed. Has anyone else experianced this problem or is it just my computer?

First no warez.
Second, is the file .AVI format? If it is, you'll need DiVX Player or something that plays .AVI format.
Everyone is entitled to their own true opinion. Either respect that or don't.

Though I wouldn't necessarily recommend Kazaa for those particular types of media, this is most definitely a codec issue. Simply put, your computer can't translate files in that format because it doesn't have the proper instructions to decompress the file to a viewable a/v stream. This really belongs in the Playback Issues forum, and more specifically, I would scour this thread: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/48608 . That should get the job done for you.

I'm not that suprised with WMP even though it's probably not the entire problem in this case. Infact I don't use WMP anymore as there are more stable media players out there now. It's a damn nuisance you can't uninstall it and start again but Microsoft are now finally being fined big bucks for imposing it on us in this way in the first place. It has it's uses but when it doesn't work properly you are stuck with it come hell or high water. Good luck with the codecs. Try diet Kazaa by the way - your downloads will speed up more than with lite and still no ads.

You need a K-Lite codec Pack try looking on afterdown but go on a search engine and type in that name and there should be some site that should have those codes. Maybe the Sherman network is trying to shut down K++ because they have told any website with K++ to take it down or face legal charges. In addition, they are trying to make a new version in which older version would not work on their network.

Diet Kazaa blocks ALL spyware and ALL ads as well as speeding up downloads which many of other P2P don't do. I will not give up on it but may try others like eMule also.

Doing Kazaa-lite or "Diet-Kazaa" still supports the fucking stupid spyware-filled Kazaa and the Fasttrack bloody network...
