Hello I understand that I am new to the discussion board but I have a question to ask. I have been using DVD Shrink with DVD Decrypter for the last 2 years and have not had a problem with it till now. I have tried everything I can think of to repair the problem. But I am still getting a IO error when I use decrypter, Image burn and also Rip it for me. I have attached a log of the issue maybe some one can tell me how to fix the problem I am having. I have been using sony dvd's. I tried Verbatumn but they are causing pixling on the finished video.... The write speed below is on a DVD rewrittable as I was tired of loosing good dvd's trying to figure out the issue.
Thank you in advance.

I think you compilation is too large, you need to shrink it with DVD Shrink. Don't make it more than 4300MB.

Also, there is a firmware update that you should do:

Okay here is how I do it. First I load the Dvd that I want to back up into my drive. I used dvd shrink to shrink it down and then use dvd decrypter or image burn to burn it to a backup dvd. And I get the same IO error. I then came here to the forum to look up the reason why I had the issue. I then see a post that says try rip it for me. I tried that and got a IO error also. I have tried to remove the software from my computer then re-booted. And then did a reinstall and still I get the IO error. But yet I can burn Data DVD's with no problem...

Did you try to update your firmware and make the compilation smaller? What movie is it you are trying to back up? Is it a newer release?
if the error is in the burning process, using Ripit4Me doesn't change much. It uses the same DVD decrypter for burning. it is also possible that your burner does not like the discs.Update the firmware. The I/O error is caused 99% of the time because of the disc: bad quality, incompatible with your burner, damagednot enough space...

I 12:04:19 Source File Sectors: 2,196,036 (MODE1/2048)

I 12:04:19 Destination Media Sectors: 2,298,496

like mentioned back it off to 4300meg in dvd shrink, does seem very close to outer edge...

also get dvd+rw and booktype to dvd rom dvd-rw arnt very good...

also check your formware as mentioned i think there is a B109 now, use imgburn - TOOLS / DRIVE / Check FIRMWARE update, it may help on those dvd-rw or not???

also verbetim are very good! but there are verbs out there with inferior dye coding, please use dvd identifier or dvdinfo pro or imgburn to tell us the dye coding off those verbatims please! the dvd-rw we can see is I 12:04:19 Destination Media Type: DVD-RW (Disc ID: RITEKW01) (Speeds: 2x)

Nothing here to see, move along folks.

I provided a link for the firmware update. That is essential for media compatibility with your burner.

Yes I have Roxio and Sonic installed it came as a bundle pack with my dell computer. When I try to back-up Days of Darkness under DVD shrink the greenline is at 4,181 and under video it says Automatic 3,478. I don't use Nero I use DVD Decrypter and I have used these two types of dvd's for the last year easily..Could the I/O Error be my computer??? Like I said before I can burn Data disks with Roxio with no problems at all. But for some reason this error thing has started in the last 2 weeks. I clean my burner after every 10 hours of use. Make sure all dvd's are scratch free and I don't use my computer when I am backing up. I am lost to this issue and I personally have no answers I will supply you with any logs needed if we can figure it out.

Okay, I here is some more about the I/O error:

http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/203426

It might be that your drive is faulty.
http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtopic=2036

Did you check the DMA to see if it is still on? If it slips in PIO mode that could also cause that error.

91. Q. What is the Media ID of a DVD and how can I find it? A.The Media ID of a DVD is the true measure of it's quality. It contains prerecorded info about the disc's manufacturer. The quality of the disc will vary depending on the media code. The media code isn't visible on the disc or the packaging. To check the media ID, Open DVD Decrypter, insert your disc, and check what it says under Media ID or Manufacturer ID. You can also use a program called DVD Identifier which is very useful. You can find it here: http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_...tools/dvd_id...
Last but not least you can use DVD Info Pro: http://www.dvdinfopro.com/
Compare the Media ID to this link: http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm

Okay guys I have worked on this along with all you guys and all I can say is Thank you Thank you. I really appreciate all your help that you have given. Tonight I went to Best Buy and talked to one of the guys at Geek Squad about the issue I am having. He sold me a new DVD Burner and explained how to hook it up with the master and slave drives. I came home and installed the new DVD burner and ran a trial and error run on it hoping that the movie would burn. And guess what it is working perfectly now. No issues at all with the burns. I really want to thank you for all your input and help I really appreciate it. Hope I can learn to offer the same help once I learn more about computers.

Well Nadine, glad to hear you are happily burning. I hoped your burner wasn't the case(we still don't know for sure, the BestBuy guy will tell you anything to sell something), but if you bought a new burner, treat it nice! Don't use any low quality media! If you can , try to test your old burner in a friend's computer and see if you have any success with it.
Now that you have 2 drives, I guess you can use the old one as a reader.
Cheers!

what make is the burner?

note: whats happened is like mentioned best buy makes a sale. YAY lol

and you now own a burner that can burn inferior media, which is ok i spose...

but try the burnt media on a stand alone player as many as you can try, mates ones, ps3, xbox, etc etc...

see how it goes...
