vdub - scheduling pass 1+ 2 for different times?

Hi,
I have searched the board and couldn't find this question:

Is it possible in VirtualDub to save (deferred) pass 1 of a movie to the schedule, then do the same with pass 2. then:
set pass 2 to postponed and just run pass 1.
then come back the next night, set pass 2 to waiting and then run it?

I have tried once or twice, worked once, didn't the other (blank video). not sure why. little help?

(PS, my encoding works perfectly other than this, so I suspect it may me a VDub setting..)

I am using:
SmartRipper 2.41
DVD2AVI
VFAPICodec
CDex_150
Virtual Dub 1.5.1
this software may not be the newest, but it works, and I am hesitant to change from it. hopefully the solution doesn't involve that
