Ok... I would just like to know what the PSAR of the PSP is and what it does and how is it different from the NAND of the PSP.

im not sure, but ill give a wild guess. The psar are Sony files that are located at the Update.PBP of their firmware. It is the biggest file in there. Im guessing that contains flash files ...etc.

The Psar is the encryption file in updates that runs the security checks. Sony put this in place starting at Firmware 2.00. They never added these security checks on Firmware 1.00, 1.5x. It basically (attempts to) ensure that all files trying to access the update file is Sony approved. It serves no average gamer any use, but it is vital for developing custom firmware and homebrew apps that utilize update files (like Pandora).

The NAND on the other hand, is a type of non-volatile flash memory. This is the storage device the PSP uses. the flash0, flash1, flash2, etc are all partitioned on this. When you create a NAND Dump, you create a backup of this, but on a physical level (i.e. sector by sector, instead of the standard file by file). Don't screw with this unless you know what you are doing.

There is no excuse NOT to mod! Don't follow the rules, make them!
