I have a athlon 2000xp cpu 768meg of ram and a western digital 7200rpm 40gb drive 16x dvd rom running xp pro. I am using dvd decrypter to convert dvd to ifo then trying to use mpegflask to convert to avi video. Decrypter seems to work ok and mpegflask will play the video ok but when trying to convert it to divx fast motion and divx 128 stereo the movie after flasking it has slight pauses in it during playback. They occur about every 4 or 5 sec just long enough to glitch the movie. It it very anoying. I have tried at least 3 movies and all do the same when converted through flask program.

This is the only program running also.

I am using the latest version of mpegflask.

Anyone that can help thanks in advance.

One more thing I decrypted a movie as iso by mistake. Is there any program I can use to change it to avi or ifo? Or do I need to redo it? It takes almost an hour to decrypt a movie for me.

Depends on the dvd for some reason some are less. I said almost an hour anyhow. Besides that doesn't help it plays fine in preview of Flask. I need to know why it don't play right after encoding.

An hour to RIP? Or an hour to ENCODE? Ripping should take <10 minutes and encodes usually take >2hours.....

Don't ask me i've never done this before! I had downloaded DVD Decrypter 3.1.6.0, installed it, went to mode and checked ifo then clicked decrypt. Decrypted another movie in 14 min this time I used my dvd burner drive. I forgot it's on a different IDE. My dvd rom is on the same IDE as hard drive and buffer was mostly at 0.

Movie Decrypts the same so what about the converting to avi deal?

Well Firstly your Hard drives and your CD/DVD Drives should be on seperate IDE Chanels...As for ripping your DVD and Makeing a AVI file you shouldn"t be useing FlaskMpeg Cuz it is Rather Old and outdated...There are Many Ways to convert your Ripped DVD to AVI...The easiest way I know is to First set up DVD Decrypter to Rip the DVD to a Single VOB file with One Single Audio Track..I don"t know how to do it in DVD Decrypter cuz I use Smartripper...After you have the Single Big VOB file load it into "Virtual Dub-Mpeg2" (You will also need to install a certain AC3 decoder ,I will leave links to it at the end of this Post) after you have Loaded the Vob into Virtual Dub-Mpeg2, set Both Audio and Video to "Full Proscessing Mode" then go to "Video" to "Filters" and Load in a Resize filter and set it to the resolution you want the AVI to be..Then go to "Video" to "Compression" and choose your codec and Bitrate..Then go to "Audio" to "Compression" and Choose the audio codec you want and Bitrate, then go to "File" to "Save AVI" and give the File a Name and it will Then Quite Quickly depending on your System Make an AVI file for you...Very simple.......

AC3 Decoder...

Thats It...Cheers

How do you make 1 big VOB file in SmartRipper? I downloaded it today.

I was using the newest beta version of FlaskMPEG so it wasn't outdated but i'll give the others a try.

This is easy...Run SmartRipper with your DVD in the Drive and then go to "Settings" to "File Splitting" and set it to "Max File Size" then on the Bottom were it says "Max file Size" set it to "9000mb" ..On the Main Screen you should also go to "Stream proscessing" and Un-Check everything accept the Video Stream and the First English audio stream...This will make it so your Big VOB file only has the Video and the Audio stream you want to keep...After ripping Just Load that Big VOB into Vitrual-Dub-Mpeg2 (But first install the AC3 Decompressor) and Follow the Instructions I allready gave...If you have Problems Let me Know...Cheers

It means you have to install a Compatible ASPI Layer...Install this:
http://clonecd.gearhost.net/clonecd/forceASPI17.zip
Then you will be able to use SmartRipper and it should greatly speed up Ripping...Cheers
