What firmware are you on?
If your on custom firmware 3.52 or above go HERE and use the built in UMD ripper.

You do know how to access the recovery console, yes?
If not, turn your psp off completely by holding the power switch up for about 5 seconds-then while you turn the psp back on, hold down the R trigger button at the same time-your psp will boot to the M33 Recovery Menu.
Under the 'Configuration' menu in the recovery console, its the option that says "Use VshMenu (currently:disabled/enabled)" You will want it "enabled" once you change the setting scroll to 'back' to bring you to the main menu, then scroll to 'exit' and select that-Your psp will restart saving the changes you made.
As far as ripping your games from UMD:
-Insert the UMD game you wish to copy
-While in the psp menu, press the HOME button, a small menu will appear
-Scroll down to where it says ?USB DEVICE? ?
-Press left on the d-pad until it says ?Umd Disc?
-Scroll to exit, then press X
-(memory stick is default for the USB DEVICE setting, be sure to change it back when you are done ripping your game otherwise you will wonder what happened to the contents of your memory stick)
-Hook your psp up to the computer
-Go to USB connection from your psp menu-when the window pops up, you should see your game. It should named UMD9660.iso
-copy the file to a folder of your choosing on your computer
-Rename the file to whatever the game is once its been copied to your computer (just make sure it has an ?.iso? extension, and that the filename is not too long-try not to exceed 15 characters)
-go back and make sure you reset the USB DEVICE to point to your memory stick
-Take the UMD game out of the psp and either use it as a Frisbee or sell it..

Go HERE and install the 3.52 M33-4 update toward the bottom of the guide.
It might not have been included with the original 3.52 M33 CFW.

I am having an issue as well.
I am running CFW 3.71 m33-4. I have UMD Dumper v0.2.
I have a UMD in the drive. When I try to run UMD dumper, I get an error message "The game could not be started. (8002014c).
Also, when I try to get int recovery mode (holding down the upper "R" button and turning the PSP on, nothing happens.
:(

are you sure your on 3.71m33 check by going to system setting then system information and it should show 3.71m33-4
also you need to hold the power button up until the green light flashes and the psp turns of and then turn it back on while pressing the r trigger because it need to be reset for you to access recovery mode.
I suggest trying filer its got a built in umd ripper and its worked fine all the time for me :-)

Just use the built in dumper if you have 3.71 M33-4 firmware.

Press select to get the VSH menu up.
Now go to USB Device and press the Right D-Pad till it says UMD Disc.
Exit the VSH menu.
Now connect PSP to PC and toggle the USB.
Drag the ISO file to PC.
Rename ISO to the name of the game.
Make sure you change the USB Device back to memory Stick when done.
