Hi all
I have now completed a reinstall of my PC to setup and eliminate my codec conflicts. I am setting up an Xbox 360 to stream videos. The problem I have is that some AVI files are giving me and error message that they are the wrong format. I have tried various codec packs and still no luck. How do I determine what the format is as it reads as avi. Tried gspot but it too gave an error. Not sure where to look next?
PS I use windows Vista ultimate with media centre and windows media player 11.

Download the freeware program Super and try re-encoding them.

What was the error that GSpot gave you? No codec found, corrupt file? Could not render?

If the file is corrupt, you could try to fix it:

Yes, there are different kinds of AVI files, dpending of the codec used to encode them, for example Xvid ,or different Divx versions,or H.264, ...
They can also contain different audio, the video can have different framerates...
