I am trying to backup my games. I have turned them into .bin + .cue files thanks to info. I found on this forum. But I can't figure out how to burn the files onto cdr like I think is necessary....one installation disk, one play disk. I have alcohol 120% and CDRWIN 5.0 know the mode and bitrate, but it only burns onto one cd. I can install the game, but when I try to play it, it says please insert correct cd or something like that. please help.

1. If you are burning a data-image (i.e., game, application) then you dont have "bitrates", if you are burning movie images, that's a whole different ballgame.
2. If it's a protected game or something (which i suspect you are talking about), you will need to overcome such protection, if there is no protection then its smooth sailing
No Protection ALCOHOL 120 1. Open Up A120
2. Click Image Burning Wizard 3. Click browse and load up the CUE file. Click Next
4. Since this is an unprotected cd, in the bottom left corner, select for the Datatype , Normal CD. Click Start.
5. Sit and wait
CDRWIN 5.0 1. Open up CDRWIN5
2. On the left hand side, click Write CD/DVD Image 3. Drag either the CUE or the BIN into the middle pane (there are cases where burning the CUE leads to problems so I will assume you are using the BIN file)
4. At the bottom, there are three tabs, select Image Settings 5. Note the two combo boxes, Mode and Block, we'll deal with this in a moment
6. Select the Writing Option tab
7. Set your speed here, check RAW (2352), enable the buffer underrun protection and you can probably uncheck everything else.
8. Now open up CDMage, and open the CUE file. If everything goes well then you should see something like Mode1/2352 or Mode1/2048 or Mode2/2352 or something like that. Close CDMage (you need to close CDMage before you can burn) and set the two combo boxes from step 5 to the appropriate values.
9. Click Start to burn the disc
Protected Discs There are two major types of copy protection and should you fail to perform a perfect backup you will get the telltale message "Please insert CD and press OK to continue." The two protection schemas are SafeDisc2 and SecureROM .
SafeDisc2 If you need to burn a SafeDisc2 protected game the major consideration is the drive doing the copy; certain drives have certain characteristics that give them an easier time to perform SafeDisc2 copies than others. Such drives are described as being 2-sheep burners. Drives not quite up to the task (however capable of), are described as 1-sheep burners and heaven forbid, 0-sheep burners. So the first thing you need to do is to find out what make/model your burner is and if it is a 2-sheep burner or not. To determine your make and model of your optical drives; if you happen to have Nero Infotools installed, start it up and under the Drive tab, it will list all the relevant specifications and capabilities of your burner. The actual name of your burner is listed in the drop-down box at the top (those numbers before the name of your burner are important too!). You can get InfoTools from http://www.cd-rw.org/software/cdr_software/cdr_tools/nero_info_tool.cfm Once you have determined tha name of the burner, head on over to http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/45121 to see if that burner is listed there or not. If it is listed there, it is a 2-sheep burner; if it is not listed there it is not neccesarily a 2-sheep burner but highly unlikely. Now if you have a 2-sheep burner head on over to http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/23699 to find out how to copy a SafeDisc2 protected game. If you are running a 1-sheeper than visit http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/36444 for the appropriate guide.
I'm sorry...you're reply was really helpful. I know I was at least headed on the right path, but when you got to the CD Mage part.? Is that a seperate program that I need to get? or is it in CDRWIN 5.0? sorry to ask so many questions, but I thought it was less confusing.
1. Use the Alcohol120 technique
2. What is the Mode/Block informationt that you are using? It *should* be Mode1/2352 (are you using that info when you set the stuff from step 5)?
3. You forgot to read my first 2 lines..... your CD is protected which means you need to follow the instructions for the second half.
