Can you run movies or stream video from a external hd?

ive looked through and found rarely anything useful.

There is a tutorial here on IDE hdd.

You could do a search for other methods of transferring movies to the HDD.
As for a USB external drive, just copy your .avi(divx is good) to your USB drive from your pc. Then start up the SMS player and it should like similiar to this: http://www.sksapps.com/sms/en/usage-usb.html
I know I used SMS V2.5 and it works great.
