if you use better media you will avoid the skipping, freezing, pixelations problem you are having...... also DO NOT put on paper labels to your DVD as this will do the same thing! change your media to Verbatim or buy the best out there: Taiyo Yuden.

You can try the freebie ImgBurn for burning, it is free. Also, make sure your firmware is up to date, as out of date firmware will cause burning problems :)

Just to add to all the great advice here, try not to multitask during the burning portion of your backups.

So I take it you recommend burning at the slowest speed? Like 1X would be best? Hardly.

i could try to make my burn go at 1x but my verbs lowest is 6x, my ritek ar 4x so setting 1x doesnt work the software reverts to the discs set speed.

The burning program supplied with ConvertXtoDVD is very good. You should probably rule it out as the culprit. Which means that your problem most likely lies in the brand of disc you are using. Have cruise through the DVD media section and browse through some of the threads. Most people post what stores are selling the good brands on sale.

1x is good, a very safe burning speed for any disc...
