So The other day I accidentally inserted a PS2 game in my PC instead of a PC game and saw some files so I thought I'll insert my Capcom Classic Collection disc and see how they add games into a disc.(I don't know anything, I just checked to see xD).
So I saw a few files and under these two files I saw each Game's(I supposed roms?) file and they were files that ended in .ELF
So I was wondering if I could remove one of these and insert a new file, and how could I make a rom into an .ELF file?

I know a little about ps2 games.. with some it is possible to change say the language for subtitles by replacing one file for another.. but only so long as the 2 languages use the same font..

Not really much use, because you will need the disks of both games to get at the files..

You replace the file (must only be a cab/subs or music file) it needs to be

1.. the same size

2.. the same name

3 .. not an executable.. just a data file.

expect it to not work 90% of the time as the checksums will most likely be wrong.. You can change the music in Simpsons Hit&Run (pad music so the file sizes are the same.. or else crash crash) and lots of customizations possible in the older games.. Nothing more complicated needed than a hex editor and a file manager.

Unless you have a ps2 with a HDD and loader you will waste heaps and heaps of disks for very little gain playing with this.. I had 2000 nasty cheap dvd-r's so it was a good way of wasting them.. Ended up finding something like 20 games you could hack away at a little.. Don't know why I let somebody talk me into looking at it really.. weeks wasted when I could have been drinking and being offensive. ;)

Look for games which seem to have a lot of directories containing odd files rather than the ones with an elf.. a speeddialler and one or two big data files.
