What drives if any are not modable on the newer 360? I read somewhere the BenQ can be flashed now without cuting traces or soldering a switchis that correct? I have only done sammy drives which are easy, are there still some Hitachi drives that require soldering to flash them? if so how hard is it to do?

Sorry for all the questions I been reading and feel like im starting over fresh again lol. From what I understand the BenQ is easy to flash now and requires no soldering if so how do I make sure I get a system with this drive? I use to have a link to a site that told lot# and teams to help determin the drive. It worked great and I was able to find 2 360's with sammy drives.

You want to avoid the newer Hitachi 0079K drive, because you have to solder something into them and it's a real pain in the butt, and you gotta know what you are doing for sure because you can easily F it up.

I would just but a used one or I think the halo edition of xbox360 had the BENQ drive in them

You may also want to read this. Not to do with the drive but getting what is said to be an all around better console then older versions.

Thank you that is one thing I wanted was a Falcon board. now all I have to do Is find some hints as to what drive they come with so I can stay away from the Hitachi 79.

no problem, good luck with your shopping. I tried that but the store was busy and the 360 were all stored in the back. So i ended up just buying the darn thing since i was not modding it (already had a modded console that was banned). But i did not get the falcon. Although it runs fine and i usually play online about 3 hours at a time a few days a week. Never had it overheat, shut down or have any problems .....so far.
