I dl'd a european movie that is an .mdf file, and have converted it to an .iso file and want to burn it to DVD. Im not a complete noobstar but I dont do this very often. SO, I have burned a dvd using the .iso file and it plays fine in my notebook dvd player... but wont play in my dvd player at home.

My question is, am i fucking up somewhere? or will it not play in my north american dvd player because the file is encoded in european format? does that even make sense?

Can anyone tell me if i can convert the file to play in my north american dvd player or am I doing something wrong.

I used ultraiso to convert the mdf to iso, and then used quick dvd to burn to dvd. just an fyi.

thanks

hitens!

Load one of the VOB files of your movie in GSpot. If it is 25 fps, is a PAL, if it is 29,97 fps or 23,976 fps, then is NTSC. If it is NTSC and your player doesn't play it, the problem might be elswere-media used, burn speed, faulty player...
If it is PAL and you want to convert it to NTSC:
- load the movie in DVD Shrink. GO to EDIT->Preferences->Output Files
and uncheck "Split VOB files into 1 GB size chunks. Save as a folder on your Hard Disk. This will merge all the VOB files and create one single VOB file.( it will take just a few minutes).
- If you have Nero, use Nero Vision to create a new DVD using your merged VOB. Under Video options, choose to encode to NTSC.
If you don't have Nero, you can use DVD Flick ,set the encoding to PAL:
