well smash bros brawl is about to come out and well i dont want to wait to march. my wii has the latest firmware. also i got my wii when they first came out in the U.S.A. so i was wondering witch whould be the best modchip to get to play this. i have no plans on backing up disks or anything. i just want to play japanese games. when i updated my wii it said something about if it was modded it could stop working. so i was wondering if there is a mod chip compatabile with the latest firmware if so plz tell me. i have looked at the wiikey but i dont want to make a mystake.

the wiikey is the best modchip at the moment, it runs all games at the moment. firmware 1.9g beta is needed on the wiikey though. You mentioned you have a NTSC wii, i would recommend only playing USA backups, if you play JAP or PAL backups it could brick your wii, for example a NTSC super mario galaxy being played on a PAL wii will semi brick it. Also because SBB is not out yet we dont know if the wiikey with the current firmware will play it (we might need another update), it may also have another update for the nintendo wii, which could brick NTSC or PAL consoles.
