I created in an xvid/avi file using 'Ulead VideoStudio 10'..on playback in stand-alone Samsung DVD player there is a Green band at the top of screen and no audio..although this file works on all of my pc players..

The file is 800x600 and just realized '720x576(PAL)' is the maximum which is why the edge of the picture is off screen on the Samsung

Any Ideas? I would rather tweak my Ulead Xvid settings over re-encoding with other software if this can be avoided

Thanks

Stream 0:
Codec: Xvid
Res: 800x600
FPS:30

Stream 1:

Chann: 2
Sample Rate:48000
Bitrate:1536

Where are you located, in a PAL or NTSC region?

Yoy might have converted to the wrong version '720x576(PAL)',
FPS:30-> NTSC= 29.97 fps
PAL 25fps;
If you need PAL and converted to NTSC, your player might have problems decoding it properly.

Look at this guide, look at the reasons for incompatibility:
