Hi all! First of all, sorry if this has already been asked/answered in here, but in fact, with so much information, you get lost and unable to say if its updated info or not...So:
Im going to buy a new Slim PS2 Silver in store (I imagine it will be the latest model).
I want to play backups, from CD's, DVD's and from an external 300Gb IDE HDD on a USB 2.0 3,5" casing.
Since it will be a new PS2, I dont want to void warranty, and I'd prefer not to use ModChips (prefer Swap Magic or something better, if it exists).
So, the questions are:
1 - From what I've read here, I will only have to buy the Swap Magic discs...everything else needed can be downloaded for free, right?
2 - Is Swap Magic the best option for backups (inside non-chip options)?
3 - Which is best (easier to use) for a Ps2 Slim: Flip-Top, Slide-Card, Ghost Switch, Slim Tool, Magic Keys, Magic Switch, etc....?
4 - Can I use my external HDD as storage (like I use it nowadays), and create a separate partition to boot PS2 games? Or do I have to use the HDD exclusively to the PS2?
Well, thanks for reading and for the help!

Yes

Its the cheaper solution to playing backups, or the new memor32 card would be another option, and no need for any modification to your PS2.Check out my blog for more info on that, but it costs like $70 right now, is still in testing waiting on new firmware.
3 - Which is best (easier to use) for a Ps2 Slim: Flip-Top, Slide-Card, Ghost Switch, Slim Tool, Magic Keys, Magic Switch, etc....?
Swap Tool Pro is not too hard to install, or try your own modification
4 - Can I use my external HDD as storage (like I use it nowadays), and create a separate partition to boot PS2 games? Or do I have to use the HDD exclusively to the PS2?
Yes you can still use the external HDD as storage. I just create a new folder for my own stuff without a partition.
Well, thanks for reading and for the help!

Thanks smokyrain! All my doubts disappeared! :D
About the memor32card...I read about it today...it kindof seems yet too experimental. Doesnt inspire much confidence yet...Just found the Swap Magic 3.8 CODER PAL + Swap Tool Pro 2006 PStwo for about 30$...reasonable price I guess...
Will buy everything this weekend! Thanks on the info! :)
