Halo 3: Can't play any level pass The Ark..

So my sister finished Halo 3 on Normal, and I'm playing it on Campaign alone on Heroic.

When ever I select the level The Ark, it takes a long time to load up to 20% then it goes back down to zero, and repeats the process, however I played the level before it to see if it'd work, it did, but when it goes to The Ark, it says it can't read the disk. I cleaned my disk and it's not working, still gives me the same message. But I can play in matchmaking on any map and any level before The Ark.

Please help!

Edit: Got it working, cleaned the disc (Even though it wasn't that scratched!), anyway I can prevent this from happening again in the future?
