So I'm planning on getting a PSP Slim soon and want to be able to run backups on it.

So to be able to do so, I would need to run a custom firmware, like the 3.7 M33.

To upgrade a store-bought PSP to the custom firmware, I need to use a modded battery and Magic Memory Stick to made Pandora Battery.

The modded battery can be the Datel Tool one, or make one myself by removing pin #5 on the chip insdie of it.

This is where I'm mostly confused at.

The memory stick can also be made via a "Universal Unbricker V3." The program will have all the files needed to convert the regular memory stick to a MMS. There is no need for the registry files or kd files.

With both, I can start the installation of the custom firmware. And with the firmware, I can play backups in ISO with an ISO loader program.

Is that all correct?

Also, do I need to keep the same memory card in to use and run backups, or can I use one card for the installation and another to place my backups on?

first you still need kd and registry folders

after you are done installing the firmware
you are able to play back ups in ISO format
no need for any programs
a psp with custom firmware has CSO/ISO launcher built in

I see. And the registry and kd files MUST be from a PSP with 1.5 firmware?

Sorry for asking so many questions, but the totalnewbie installer will pretty much create the necessary files to get a working memory stick?
