X-box doesn't recognise wired controller

Hi guys,

Just two days ago, I got my xbox360 flashed and for about a day it worked fine, with the backups.Joy. However all of a sudden, it doesn't recognise the controller anymore. The 1st quarter of the green circle on the console doesn't light up.

I tried plugging in the controller again and again. And the controller circle lights up the 1st and 4 quandrant for a second and then goes away.

Games and backups still work fine, except for the fact I can't play them!

So I have two questions

1) Would this be a fault of the controller, or the controller port, and if it is the controller port could it have been brought about because I flashed it? Has anyone else had this problem?

2) Is it normal for the backups to get super hot after play ( I use verbatim discs).

the game disc will get hot
