So, you have a movie in two parts and want to combine them and put them onto a DVD as one movie? or something else?
I don't think Winavi does that. It does batch conversion, but I don't think it appends the files to make one DVD structure.

For that, you can use DVD Flick. Here is a guide:

Since you already have the AVIs converted to DVD, you can use DVD Shrink to join the two DVDs into one.

I do it all the time, you open up winavi
1. press the dvd button
2. browse to your 2 avi files and pick them.
2. make sure in the output you pick merge into one.
3. start the conversion.

It always works for me this way, I don't think winavi 9.0 is any different than 8.0 from what I can see.

I stand corrected, did not now about that function. Don't use it much, just to convert some RMVB files to DVD, as there are not many converters that support RMVB.

How is the transition point? Do you get any visible flicker, or is pretty smooth?

As for Winavi 9, on the main website there is no Winavi 9:~)! The latest version shown is 8. Although thre are some sites showing Winavi 9, I think is just a red skin.
