Ok not too sure where to put this. A few years back I bought a whole load of Dragonball Dvds to watch since they were so cheap. However, they are bootleg copies and the subtitling is ok, but some parts were really bad.

I was wondering if there is a way to use dvd shrink or any other means, to possibly extract and modify the subs, much like srt files?

We are not suppose to mention bootleg on the forum, you might want to edit that out of your post. I have never used this program, but by reading what it offers it may work for you. Give it a try and let us know how it worked. In fact I may download it myself. I have a couple of movies that do not have subtitles and I would like to add the feature to the DVD's. Good luck!

Subtitle Workshop works well if its text based subs, but first you have to get them into text format.

I've used these programs to rip subs and edit them.

'DVDSubedit' can open the VOB files directly and OCR the subs to a .srt file.

'ReJig' will demux the video and audio.

'DVDAuthor GUI' to mux the video, audio and new .srt file.

Start DVDSubedit.
'File' 'Open full domain' and load the VOB files ..
On the right pane, choose the subtitle stream (English).
On the menu bar, select 'OCR' and optionally hide the hearing impaired text in selected stream
On the lower right pane, 'Run OCR' then 'Save as SRT'
Exit.

Edit the .srt file and save.

Run Rejig - IFO Mode.
'Add' IFO to open the video.
Under Video Options, select the 'demux video' radio button.
In the 'Streams' pane, choose the Video and Audio.
Process the output and quit.

Start DVDAuthor GUI
'Add Title' to load video and audio files that were demuxed.
Click 'Extras' to load the new .srt file.
'Author DVD' to output new movie folder.
