Converting 720p mkv file -- help

Ok, I have River Past Video Cleaner and I have been trying to convert a .mkv file which is 720p resolution.

My problem is that someone told me that DivX will not support anything above 720 x 480 resolution.

I do not know what would the best codec be for converting this video?

Also, I am going to be playing the file on my PS3. Thanks :)

You can change from .MKV to a different "wrapper", like avi or so, without reencoding and loosing quality:

If you want to convert it to DVD for example, you can use DVD Flick
