a recent interview posted on xbox-scene.com explained that the xbox 360's faulty desighn provides excessive heat to the GPU and warps the motherboard around it. this creates many problems, including the rrod.
so am looking for ideas on how to keep my xbox 360 as cool as i can. post the techniques and methods that you use to keep you 360 from overheating.

I use a vertical stand fan cooling unit (like the one Game Stop sells for $20) which really helps and put a fan behind the 360 so it helps also. I noticed my 360 is a LOT cooler in the vertical position, rather than the horizontal. Check this out, I E-bayed the cooling system I had, it works great. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie....cSELL.m315.lVI

I was actually using the NYKKO cooler for about 2 months before I took it off. I read all the posts about people burning up their 360s with it. After that I got a open air shelf that has no sides or back.

Here is the best way possible to keep your 360 cool.

Have a fan blowing away the air being pushed out the back,

have a fan stand (I used the cooler).

Have a NYKO Ineter cooler EX. It is the new and much improved model. This one is made of metal so the plastic won't melt at the plug.

This has kept my 360's exaughst at an 84 degrees farighnet. Mostly All the time.

also if you put your hand on the top (by the harddrive) you can actually feel the air being sucked in. That should keep your 360 around for a long long time.

yeah i'm the man

isnt it a bad idea to keep it TOO cool i mean recently i had the 0102 error and i looked it up and i found that it had to do with my motherboard being too cold so i used towel trick with out letting it overheat and it worked fine....i think the key is to keep it temperate...not too cold not too hot

depends if you play Xbox Live, or want to possibly void the warranty.
Best way i know is by replacing the internal fan with a Talismoon fan. It moves twice as much air as the stock fan. But to do this you have to be willing to void the warranty, unless of course you are quite skilled and can remove the security sticker without damaging it. Which can be done.

I have one in my first 360 and it has yet to every overheat.
