If you have a v12 or 13 ps2 you can install a IDE hard drive through HD Connect. Otherwise you will have to go with USB extreme/USB advance. Check ps2 version here.
I don't believe any chip allows you to boot from a USB drive. Though if your chip supports booting from Dev1 you can boot a program from your memory card upon start up. What chip is installed in your system?

My playstation is SCPH-70006 NTSCJ this is probably v12 chip inside is chinise guys here couldnt recognize the model. I guess my option is to boot up using the memory card exploit what i dont get is how you actually transfer the files to the memory card!

Grab the independence compiler v4.1 here.

Inject the .elf files you want on the memory card into it. Amount of files is limited to the size of your memory card. The .elf files can be obtained on exploitstation.com and sksapps.com

Create your .bin/.cue and burn to blank cd-r. Then all you need to do is load the disc and it will install your files to the memory card. I highly recommend you install Ulaunch elf v4.12 as it can be used to launch other .elf files from USB, HD, and the memory card.

Load the disc into the disc drive of the ps2. Just like you would with a regular game.

Yea only one problem P: The laser of the ps2 is fried it dosent read any discs you failed to understand the problem somehow.Think i mentioned that the cd-device aint working didnt i ? The question is is there a way around that or is there a way the software can be installed on the harddrive itself :)
Also ive seen a video of the sega genesis emulator that loads up directly from USb flash stick and that emu has a lot of elf files so im thinking that there is a way to solve this problem simply nobody tried so far with dead laser

Man I'm retarded, sorry about that.

You can format and install the software needed onto a HD by connecting it to your pc. Though you will not be able to use that image unless you have a chip which lets you boot from Dev2 (HD).

So if you your chip supports booting from Dev2 then the above method would work. Otherwise I would have to say find a friend who has access to a ps2 with a working laser. That way you could install the exploit onto your memory card using his ps2. It would then work on your ps2 with the dead laser.

First you need to connect your HD to the pc using a standard IDE cable. Next format using the NTFS format to get the most space out of your HD.
Then all that should be needed is to transfer the image, which can be obtained here.
Note: I have never actually done this myself, just read through many forums in the past.
